Poudre School District
Poudre School Distric came into existence July 1, 1960, after taxpaying electors in Larimer County had voted in favor of consolidating the county’s 30 school districts into three. The school district allows residents the option of School Of Choice. If enrollment allows, students may attend schools outside their designated area. Area districts include: Poudre School District R-1 (Fort Collins area); Thompson R-2 (Loveland area); and Park R-3 (Estes Park area). Poudre R-1 is one of the largest school districts in Colorado, covering na area of 1,856 square miles. The R means “reorganized”. Schools in the district inclde 32 elementary schools (K-5), 10 junior high schools (7-9) and 6 high schools (9-12).
Visit a PSD classroom and you’ll see enthusiastic staff teaching students in an inviting setting where learning is fun! All PSD teachers are certified in the State of Colorado and have an average of 11 years experience. 99% of PSD teachers are “highly qualified” as defined by No Child Left Behind federal legislation, and 98% of classes are taught by highly qualifed teachers. 40.7% of our teachers hold bachelor’s degrees, 57.7% hold master’s degrees, and 1.6% hold doctorate degrees.
A mix of veteran teachers and energetic newcomers facilitate learning within our school. With ongoing training for all employees, we are truly a learning community with high standards for everyone.
A student’s right to learn in a safe environment is a priority. Clearly defined expectations for student behavior and a variety of prevention programs contribute to a positive learning environment in our schools. Character Education themes are woven into the fabric of all our elementary schools.
With a total of 45schools and numerous facilities that house special programs, Poudre School District is committed to being responsible to our students, the community, and the environment.
PSD is committed to being a responsible steward of our natural resources and believes that public education should provide leadership in developing an ethic of sustainability in all of its practices. Sustainable Design Guidelines are in place to ensure this goal is achieved when constructing new facilities and renovating existing schools.

Front Range Community College
As an institution of higher education, Front Range Community College admits individuals 17 years of age or older who can benefit from college preparatory and two-year college-level credit instruction in general education and occupational areas which may lead to a Certificate or an Associate of Applied Science, Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, or Associate of General Studies Degree, or lead to transfer to a four-year institution.
We serve individuals of all ages who can benefit from non-credit instruction for personal and professional development, recreation and fitness, and individual and family enrichment.
We serve employees of local businesses and industries who can benefit from workplace skill development from customized and/or credit-generating courses.
We serve all individuals in our communities by developing and enriching the local economy and culture.
